What Does FYP Mean on Tik Tok

Hi Everyone,

FYP stands for the “For You Page”.

When a TikTok user opens the TikTok app, and tap on the home icon, TikTok shows the user videos that it thinks he / she may like.

TikTok decides which videos to show based on analyzing the TikTok user interest over a period of time,

So, for example, if I like, comment, share, and constantly watch many food videos, then my for you page might contain many food related videos.

Now, if the user swipes up the screen, he / she will see another video that TikTok thinks is related to the viewer interest, and so on.

This video feed is called: FYP (For You Page), and you will even see the words For You highlighted at the top of the homepage (next to the words Following — which are videos from TikTok creators that you follow).

Brief Explanation Of How I Think The TikTok Algorithm Works

When a TikTok creator publishes a video on TikTok, TikTok will send this video to the For You Page (the video feed) of a small group of people that showed interest in those types of videos.

If this small group of people, will have a good engagement with the video, TikTok willl send the video to the For You Page of a bigger group of people, and so on.

I shared a post in which I explained in more details how I think the TikTok Algorithm works, and you can read it here.
